Background
We were instructed to create personas, conduct interviews, and create site maps among other processes with the end goal of designing a responsive desktop and mobile web interface addressing an issue of our choice.
The Problem
Many women feel intimidated at the idea of lifting because of stigmas surrounding the gym (ex. gym bros), lack of an accountable gym partner, or the the learning curve of figuring out how to use equipment.
Goals + Solutions
Gal is a website targeted towards college aged women who want to learn how to weight lift while also incorporating lifting into their busy schedules. To address the issues that were brought up during user research, I decided to center my website around three main issues: community, creating workout routines, and learning specific exercises.
User Research
After conducting several interviews, I created and revised two personas based on the feedback I received. While my initial target was both nutrition and lifting, I decided to narrow my scope to focus on the basics of lifting (ie. getting exercise form down correctly, learning how to build your own workout routine) based on the feedback I received.

Logo Iterations
I took inspiration from gym iconography such as dumbbells and weight plates. I ultimately chose the final iteration because of its simple, friendly look and its grounding in the original image based versions.
Homepage
After many iterations, this is the final draft of the homepage design. I wanted the site to be inviting especially for new beginners upon first glance, a quality that I felt many of the benchmarks lacked. To achieve this, I used rounded fonts and illustrations I drew myself.
